About "The Covid Sessions"
Many couples are finding that the consequences of Covid have put extra strain on their relationship. Therapy can assist with the many different ways that this pandemic has affected couples. Some of the issues that couples are experiencing include difficulties such as:
You may have felt that prior to covid, that you were doing okay, but find that the stress placed on you has put an unexpected strain on your relationship.
It may have, because of your excessive proximity to each other, raised questions about your happiness, contentment, or the viability of your relationship.
For many, covid has cut off the essential space and distance that you normally need to simply find some relief from either a difficult relationship or else to recharge a good one.
It may have exposed dormant problems that you knew were always there but now you find that they can no longer be avoided.
Your partner may be an abusive and controlling personality and may have now become overbearing leaving you living in dread and fear all the time.
You may have previously had a dysfunctional relationship because of alcohol abuse, infidelity, or mental health issues and covid has made it now impossible to hide the seriousness of such problems.
It may have opened up new problems such as arguing about the pandemic itself, which may have driven a wedge between you.
It may have caused financial breakdown, and in turn, catastrophic financial stress.
It may have affected your relationship in other unique and personal ways that make you feel that your relationship is in difficulty.
The Covid Sessions will have a number of AIMS, such as:
To name and give expression to the felt problems, the gravity of the problems, and the hopes.
To identify the kind of relationship that each partner wants and longs for.
To identify specifically what they need and want from their spouse in order make that happen.
To give expression to longing, desire, hopes, fears, and all the emotions of love.
To identify emotions like anger, frustration, entitlement, that reject or diminish the other rather than reveal the self.
To learn how to communicate without fighting or arguing.
To assess and diagnose the specific problems and traits that have caused difficulty.
To assess and diagnose personality styles and how both love and control are achieved and expressed.
To make a commitment to change and to stick together.
To get and complete homework tasks and exercises to put learnings into practice.
